A train derailed in Buenos Aires. SAME head Alberto Crescenti confirmed that 'there are no fatalities', while one lane of Rivadavia Avenue remained closed due to the work of emergency teams. In an official statement, Trenes Argentinos said that 'the causes of the incident are under investigation and can only be determined once the track is cleared and the corresponding assessments are carried out'. The Tren Sarmiento service resumed on Tuesday afternoon, several hours after the derailment at Liniers station, which left at least 20 people with minor injuries. Despite the service resuming around 6:30 PM, trains do not stop at Liniers while work on the investigation and repair in the affected area continues. The incident occurred around 3:50 PM, when a train traveling from Moreno to Once derailed for reasons still under investigation. Meanwhile, María Luján Rey, mother of Lucas Menghini, one of the victims of the Once tragedy, told Noticias Argentinas: 'It is very sad what happened'. The operation involved personnel from Trenes Argentinos, Buenos Aires Fire Department, SAME, the Special Rescue Group (GER), as well as a command post and a medical brigade that worked until late into the night. According to authorities, about 20 passengers suffered multiple trauma and were assisted on the scene before being taken to various hospitals, although none of them are in serious condition.
